Escape Room Website and Videography

In this project, we helped an escape room client refresh their website and videography content. This included developing a custom booking / payment web application, migrating web platforms, redesigning the entire website, reworking the website for SEO performance, providing research and guidance on keyword performance and website content for ongoing search engine performance, and producing a series of videos to be shown onsite to customers.

Website Migration, Website Redesign, and Search Engine Optimization

Before this project, the client used Weebly as their website CMS. After conversations about their goals and reviewing the limitations of the Weebly platform, we decided to migrate their website to WordPress. This would facilitate the customization they wanted to add while allowing the client to manage the site moving forward with minimal coding requirements.

The entire website was then redesigned and built on the WordPress platform. We both designed the developed the new website with a focus on search engine performance. We researched keyword performance and identified competitive keywords to target in their market. Content was then designed in a way to improve ranking across these keywords. We then provided additional guidance to the client for creating ongoing new content to further improve their search engine rankings.

Custom Booking Web App

As part of the website redesign, we created a custom booking application for the client. Prior to our engagement, the website had an embedded scheduler from Bookeo. Although this allowed booking on their website, the user interface was poor. The client wanted to continue managing their schedule and bookings through Bookeo, so we developed a custom interface that integrated with the Bookeo API for scheduling and the Stripe API for payment. In the new custom interface, customers could view the live availability for any of the client’s escape rooms. They could then reserve spots in a room and complete payment directly on the client’s website.

Videography

We developed a series of videos for the client to help shape the customer experience during each escape room. First, we developed a safety video for customers to view prior to entering any room. This lighthearted video showed the rules that applied to all of the rooms as well as tips to be successful in the escape rooms. We then developed 3 videos for each room – a briefing video, a success video, and a failure video. The briefing videos helped set up the theme and story behind each room. After entering the room, participants would view the briefing video that helped establish the experience. Each room then had a similarly themed success and failure video that would be shown to participants depending on whether they successfully solved the room’s puzzles or not. The safety and briefing videos are linked below. The success / failure videos are not publicly available as they would spoil the experience for those who have not yet experienced the rooms.
